High school outdoor athletics will begin Feb. 1 as allowed by WIAA in Phase I of Washington State Department of Health guidelines.

Sports considered low risk are the first to be cleared for practice and competition. These include boys golf, boys tennis and boys and girls cross country. Competitions will take place among Greater St. Helen’s League teams. Safety precautions and protocols will be followed for athletes who travel by bus. Spectators are currently not allowed at competitions while we are in Phase I.

Practices for football, volleyball, girls soccer and slow pitch softball are cleared to begin Feb. 1 under varying restrictions. However, competitions won’t start until Clark County moves to Phase II.

Girls swimming practices also fall within the Feb. 1 timeframe, but area schools have postponed to a later time to allow more facilities to become available for contests.

High school students who want to join a team should contact their school athletic director.
