OUR VISION

We are globally aware and engaged citizens who are college-, career- and life-ready.

OUR MISSION

We are leaders who value diversity, and we empower lifelong learners who actively and positively contribute to our school, our community and our world.

GLOBAL OUTLOOK

It’s important for our students to be prepared to compete, connect and cooperate with others locally and globally. Being an international studies school helps us accomplish this goal by creating an environment where all students are learning to become globally competent.

investigating the world

To ask questions and conduct research on locally and globally significant issues.

recognizing perspectives

To better understand interactions, situations and events in our world.

communicating ideas

To connect with diverse audiences, increase understanding and collaborate.

taking action

To contribute positively to local, regional and global issues.

BECOME A WORLD THINKER

The Center for International Studies is a school-wide program located exclusively at Fort Vancouver High School. In all of their classes, students at Fort are actively learning about global issues and how they can positively impact our world. The program also is open to any VPS student through the boundary exception process.

Student Leadership

Students have multiple opportunities to engage in leadership and service activities throughout the school year. Activities include Student Ambassadors, International Family Night, and Global Youth Service Day.

COLLABORATING WITH COMMUNITY CATALYST PARTNERS

We’re partnering with Community Catalyst Partners and the International Studies Schools Network (ISSN). ISSN consists of 30 schools throughout the United States committed to developing global competence in all students.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY

“Being here has taught me what it means to be a global citizen. The diversity in our school has helped me view the world from different perspectives. Everyone has a story to tell, and I learn a lot from just being here on a daily basis.”

SHARON, FORT STUDENT

Sydney, student at Fort

“The opportunities and experiences I have gained here have shaped me into the person I am. I’ve had the honor of being taught by teachers who believe that I have the capability to change the world and who tell me how the world really works so I don’t prepare myself for a false reality.”
