GLOBAL OUTLOOK
It’s important for our students to be prepared to compete, connect and cooperate with others locally and globally. Being an international studies school helps us accomplish this goal by creating an environment where all students are learning to become globally competent.
To ask questions and conduct research on locally and globally significant issues.
To better understand interactions, situations and events in our world.
To connect with diverse audiences, increase understanding and collaborate.
To contribute positively to local, regional and global issues.
BECOME A WORLD THINKER
The Center for International Studies is a school-wide program located exclusively at Fort Vancouver High School. In all of their classes, students at Fort are actively learning about global issues and how they can positively impact our world. The program also is open to any VPS student through the boundary exception process.
Student Leadership
Students have multiple opportunities to engage in leadership and service activities throughout the school year. Activities include Student Ambassadors, International Family Night, and Global Youth Service Day.
WHAT STUDENTS SAY
“Being here has taught me what it means to be a global citizen. The diversity in our school has helped me view the world from different perspectives. Everyone has a story to tell, and I learn a lot from just being here on a daily basis.”
SHARON, FORT STUDENT
“The opportunities and experiences I have gained here have shaped me into the person I am. I’ve had the honor of being taught by teachers who believe that I have the capability to change the world and who tell me how the world really works so I don’t prepare myself for a false reality.”
SYDNEY, FORT STUDENT
“Fort is full of many wonderful and friendly teachers and staff who help you strive for excellence. I love being part of such a diverse school and being able to explore different cultures through my classmates and in my classes.”
