Trapper Softball: in Review 2006-2007

This upcoming season looks to be a promising one for our lady Trappers. The team is packed with a senior led defense and some young, talented pitchers. We look forward to an exciting year full of team successes and accomplishments, as well as personal improvements and fun for the girls.

Last season was a season of growth for the girls as they united with each other to have a great team bond. We look to continue with the spirit of last season, as we remain strong in our team unity and respect for fellow teammates. The girls’ value of their “link” improved greatly over the season and they really showed what it meant to be a team player. The season was, in some ways, a great season, but our record did not show the growth and skill that the girls really possessed. With wins over White Salmon and some very close league games, the girls have given themselves the chance to make this upcoming season a break out one. Look out for the Lady Trappers in 2008.

We return all but 3 Varsity athletes from last year’s squad; Samantha Butterfield, Brittnee Alexis, and Amanda Coles. Butterfield and Alexis graduated proudly from FVHS in 2007 and are currently attending their freshman year of college, at Washington State University and Clark College, respectively.

Butterfield left the Trapper softball team as a 4-year starter and received a 2nd team All-League nomination in 2007 at 1st base, as well as being voted team captain by her teammates.

Alexis gave the Trapper program a lot to build on. Her spirit and hard work led the way, along with her positive attitude towards playing ball. Showing up every day with a smile and willing to try and do anything she was asked. She played outfield most the season and will be greatly missed.

Coles leaves the Trapper softball team after being on Varsity for 3 years. Her family moved to Eugene, Oregon and she looks to play softball for Sheldon High School. She played outfield in her 3 years.

The 2008 team is led by seniors Nicole Colpron (OF), Renee Nicola (INF), Kayla McKee (INF), Alysa Music (INF/OF), and Kierra Harrison (OF) and juniors Krista Sibley (INF) and Chelsey Sweet (P). As we look to our experienced players for leadership, we also look to some youth to bring some excitement and extra energy to the team, as the 2008 Trapper squad also returns sophomores Lauren Lefebvre (INF/OF/P) and Catherine Hamilton (P).
